There is order even in Chaos

Greetings folks, welcome to another week at Chaitanya Kul! The prodigal children have returned, and the excitement levels have skyrocketed! With the return of Payal, Palak, Pritam and Khushi, who were gone for months, the energy at Chaitanya Kul is simply electric.

Our beloved facilitator Navedita was not feeling well this time. But true to her nature, she was determined to be there for the children and her positive energy was contagious. The children welcomed her with open arms, making the virtual art session a cheerful one.

Gratitude is always on the menu at Chaitanya Kul. The children are inspired to appreciate each other, express thanks, and participate in a gratitude circle. Unfortunately, this week's circle had to be postponed as our other facilitator Manisha was also feeling under the weather. Nevertheless, we're sure it'll be even more exciting when they both return!

This week, we also decided to clean the space every Saturday for half an hour. It was a bit chaotic and confusing at first, but in the end, the space was in tip-top shape. It was supposed to take 30 minutes, but the children decided to clean the store room too, and it took almost 2 hours. Nonetheless, at the end of the day, the space was clean and organized. At Chaitanya Kul, playtime is just as important as learning time. Play improves the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children and young people. Through play, children learn about the world and themselves. They also learn skills they need for study, work and relationships such as: confidence, social skills. Our in-house facilitator Avinash takes this to heart and has been introducing the children to new games such as basketball and the children have been thoroughly enjoying themselves. They play twice a week, thanks to a nearby stadium that has a basketball court that we can use for free. The first day was a bit chaotic, but by the second day, the children were having a blast and the facilitator was fully engaged with them. As the children get the hang of the game, we are sure that basketball will become one of their favorite activities. He also introduced a new game this week called "The Ring". This game is commonly played in Goa, and the children are getting a kick out of it. Although the facilitators are playing it more than the children, we are hopeful that as the month progresses, even the younger kids will get in on the fun. The younger children love playing dodgeball (most) with Avinash and he's also learning a lot about different cultures and languages through the (informal) language and cultural exchange program. This includes attending marriages and experiencing different religious and social practices. Who says you can't learn while having fun?! The start of this year has been a great one for Chaitanya Kul. We've introduced a new attendance system where our children mark their own attendance, just like us big kids do in our offices. The children love it and it's been a great success so far! And that's a wrap for this week! Stay tuned for more exciting updates from Chaitanya Kul. Keep smiling and remember, every day is a new adventure!
