A lot to tell

It is a cold season at Adari. Schools are closed for 2 weeks, due to the harsh weather, but not Chaitanya Kul, is very much open and the children are coming in regularly. A lot has changed now, we have got more students coming in and due to the cold we mostly play indoors, like carom, chess, etc. Despite the weather being intolerable we do go to the stadium or park, (depending on whichever is open) every Sunday to play ultimate frisbee. With the new children they mostly start with academics first and then get into doing other activities, also now the older kids are teaching the newcomers. They slowly explore the real idea of 'Chaitanya Kul' and once they realize that they are not coming to a tuition center but to a learning space, anyone can see their enthusiasm to explore and learn subjects of their interests and their talent that was dormant.

In other news this month, our team member Avinash Almeida joined us back, after a month-long holiday and with him he has brought his electric cycle, and ever since, he got it at Chaitanya Kul the children are using it more often than him. After a month-long holiday, he Along with him he brought some lovely Goan goodies. The children were divided by what they liked and disliked, but their tastes eventually evolved. They were also quite excited to know about his adventures and what happened during the 1 month's holiday.

The Maha Sankranti festival happened last Sunday, It represents the solar transition and corresponds to the time of the astronomical event of the Sun entering Capricorn and is observed on a day that usually falls on 14 January of the Gregorian calendar, but on 15 January in leap years. Satyam was happy to see many girl children that came in the morning to wish. And Avinash was a bit confused about how to receive the greetings, and then the children had to educate him on how to receive them and what to say. Because in his culture they just shake hands or a hug or they will say thank you or welcome.
