A lot of events took place in Chaithanya Kul last week. The kitten that we adopted was sick, I was really running around and staying up the whole night, to nurse her back to health. In that process, I got a headache and that very same day the children came over, I assumed that they wouldn’t come, because of the Durga Pooja, but they came anyways.
They demanded to play hide and seek, few wanted to use the computer and study. But I was in such a position where I didn’t want to do any of that. I made my health status very clear but in their excitement, they wouldn’t understand and still yelled when they talked. That irritated me.
But what makes this scene different? Why weren’t they scared when I raised my voice? Or complain to Satyam, a fellow team member and founder of Chaithanya Kul (I would like to think that), which they can do very easily. One of the many reasons is that I kept communicating about why I was being this person and that there is a reason, which is a normal occurrence in human nature. On contrary popular belief, children understand. And they are quite sensitive. But they were very surprised by the long explanation because the kind of adults they are surrounded by will just shout to keep them quiet with no reasoning or sharing a simple understanding.
